Kendrick Lamar & J. Cole Team Up On Jeezy’s Star-Studded New Single “American Dream”

Wow. Jeezy is one of the only rappers that would be able to get Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole on the same track, and now it’s here in full. “American Dream” is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated collaborations of the year and is the ltest single off Jeezy’s album next Pressure

For years, Kdot and Cole have been teasing a joint project with fans left anxiously awaiting any news. While this isn’t the long rumored project, it will certainly hold fans over a bit longer. Each rapper kills it over the soulful beat as Kendrick delivers an incredible verse in his more melodic style towards the end of the track. Jeezy’s forthcoming album is due in full at midnight and he’s been kind enough to treat us with this gem in advance. Whethan Shares Funky, Emotional New Single “Aftertaste” Ft. Opia

If you’ve been keeping up with TSIS over the past year, you know we’ve become big fans of Whethan. Ever since we introduced him to the site for his debut original single “Can’t Hide”, the 18-year-old producer has continued to impress on some fantastic collaborations with the likes of Charli XCX, Mascolo, Elohim and of course, Oliver Tree. Today he’s continued his streak of incredible releases with a brand new single, “Aftertaste” featuring the exciting rising group Opia

Featuring some production and vocals from Connecticut-based group Opia (who you may recognize from their recent collabs with Ekali and Louis Futon), we’ve quickly realized that Whethan and Opia sound awesome together. While this latest offering starts off slow with some delicate, emotional vocals it doesn’t take long for some soulful piano and distant bells to quickly throw the track into a powerful chorus filled with skittering percussion, funky guitar and bouncy, distorted bass. Whethan is heading on European tour with Louis The Child early next year, see dates below. Enjoy!

PREMIERE | Birocratic Makes TSIS Debut With Chill Sample-Based Electro Soul Single “Easy Money” + Video

Today we’re excited to introduce New York-based artist Birocractic to the site with the premiere of his latest single “Easy Money.” The track is the first from Big Beat’s Denver Ignition series, which is a compilation set to drop on Dec. 21. This is the first domestic edition of the series, which is dedicated to capturing the unique sounds of cities all around the globe; previous locations include Paris, Amsterdam and Ibiza. This specific edition pays homage to the vibrant subgenres that call Denver home such as electro soul, downtempo and more.

“It’s awesome to be a part of this compilation – there’s so much incredible music coming out of the Denver scene. And being supported by Big Beat is a huge opportunity for us. Props to all the producers out there, and people behind the scenes making it all happen.” – Brandon Rowan (Birocratic)

Needless to say, Birocratic captures the Denver vibe impeccably with this single. The rising chillhop producer draws from influences across the board such as jazz, melodic, hip-hop and more to create an infectiously smooth signature that he showcases well with “Easy Money.” The bouncy percussion, groovy guitar plucks, energetic piano chords and effortlessly cool synth melodies lend themselves to a laidback tone that we’re loving.

“Easy Money” is accompanied by a video showcasing Denver, and it was shot and edited exclusively by UC Denver Students Trevor McKenna, Patrick Jorgenson, Brandon Keller, Benito Roland, Niko Sotolongo and assisted by their professor, Eric Hewett. This group of students created all of the visual components for the Denver series, with the other videos premiering with the album on Dec. 21. For this video in particular, the eye-catching shots coupled with the subtle but captivating visual effects really drive the chill vibe of “Easy Money” home. Check it out below and enjoy!

PREMIERE | Star Wars’ “The Force” Theme Song Is Given Epic Melodic Trap Cover By Rising Act Far Out

The new Star Wars movie drops tonight and fans around the world are hyped for the next chapter in the legendary series. In the spirit of the release, up-and-coming producer duo Far Out have dropped an epic cover of The Force Theme, the iconic orchestral suite that any Star Wars fan will instantly recognize.

Far Out are making a name for themselves with an energetic, melodic style with a retro twist. But don’t be mistaken – their production chops are cutting edge. In this cover they seamlessly blend a swelling string section with a powerful drop that sounds like an electronica-infused guitar solo. Little touches like an oscillating, alien-sounding synth on the breakdown or a slow, persistent drumbeat on the buildup show how Far Out embraced the epic space-battle vibe. This epic take on the track comes via Trap Nation’s Lowly Palace label.

PREMIERE | Newcomer Saro Delivers Amazing Indie R&B Single “Sardonic” Off EP

There’s nothing we love more than discovering talented new artists that impress us right off the bat. That’s exactly what we have with Los Angeles-based Indie / R&B artist Saro, who we have the pleasure of linking up with for the premiere of his latest single “Sardonic.”

There’s something to be said for vocalists who find the perfect production to compliment their voice, and Saro has an incredible ear for this. We heard this now as we have in past singles like “Test” and “Eyelids,” which I highly recommend checking out if you haven’t heard yet. Saro’s vocal range is put on full display on “Sardonic” as his silky voice effortlessly transitions to breezy falsetto in a way that hits just right.

The shapeshifting production evolves throughout, evoking a variety of emotions as it switches between bright and cinematic to ominous and brooding, serving as the perfect foundation for Saro’s vocals and songwriting to shine. We’re excited to see what’s next for this rising talent. This new single comes early off Saro’s Boy Afraid EP, which is due in full tomorrow (Dec. 15) so stay tuned for the full project and enjoy!

PREMIERE | Australian Producer Oski Delivers Melodic Future Bass Single “Gimme Some”

Today we have the pleasure of premiering Oski’s latest single “Gimme Some”, which is released via Circus Records. The Sydney-based artist first caught our attention back in 2015, with his heavy release “Spark”. Since, he has dropped tracks via bass labels Quality Goods and Disciple, which caught the attention of Doctor P and Flux Pavilion, who created Circus Records. “Gimme Some” is a euphoric future bass track with some trap inspiration, and was crafted on a synth that Oski recently picked up from Habstrakt.

The track commences with cultured plucks that get complimented by organic percussion and rising synths. Oski delivers a powerful break with energetic synths and a lively vocal sample which leads listeners into the dynamic drop that will have you looking like a bobble-head. Enjoy!
