Whenever Kygo’s “Firestone” graces my ears, I am immediately transported to paradise. The soothing tropical house hit has the amazing ability to entrap each listener in a blanket of bliss. Any Pretty Lights fan can attest to the raw talent the chill producer brings to his performances. Whether hopping on the decks solo or bringing a full band out in support of his standout sound, Derek Vincent Smith keeps the crowd moving from start to finish and often drops a lot of jaws in the process. After blowing us away at The Gorge (full set here), dropping soulful single “Rainbows and Waterfalls” and donating NYE live stream profits to hurricane victims in Puerto Rico, we’ve had high expectations for the artist throughout 2018. And, like many others, we’ve been following the rumors that a new album may drop this year.
New album or not, Pretty Lights hit us with a massive announcement: his 10-Year Anniversary Red Rocks live shows. For a two-night run on August 10th and 11th the artist will bring his talents to one of the most incredible venues in the world, and we couldn’t be more stoked for it. Limited presales begin at 10 a.m. MST today – sign up for the newsletter here to get the code. Stay tuned for the full lineup. Good luck and enjoy!
We’re always excited for any new music from TOKiMONSTA. After a very eventful 2017 — where the California producer not only recovered from brain surgery, but also dropped one of our favorite albums of the year, Lune Rogue — TOKiMONSTA is back again with her first track of 2018. This unique number comes off a new remix EP for talented Australian singer-songwriter Vera Blue’s track “Lady Powers,” which was just released last month. “Lady Powers” is off Vera’s impressive debut album Perennial.
Vera Blue is starting to make some moves with her incredible voice and songwriting so TOKiMONSTA taking on this track is something that’s a natural fit for the two amazing female artists’ sounds to come together effortlessly. There’s no doubt that TOKiMONSTA is one the most versatile producers in electronic music. It doesn’t matter which direction she takes with a certain track. Ultimately, it always ends up sounding like something we’ve never heard before. This new remix of “Lady Powers” is no different, sounding like it’s combines different elements of both moombahton and house.
If you were a fan of her Lune Rouge LP, you’ll definitely love this new track. It sounds like it would fit right in. Enjoy!
