As of April 7th, outlets were reporting Jay-Z had ordered the removal of his music from Spotify and Apple, which many were assuming was a power move against the two streaming services. Tidal which was rediscovered back in 2014 when Jay Z acquired it from Aspiro for $56 million has been in competition with Apple Music. In the past year, Tidal has been gaining ground by obtaining exclusives from Beyonce, Kanye West and a number of other artists.
