San Diego’s href="http://dancingastronaut.com/tag/crssd/">CRSSD Fest – presented by FNGRS CRSSD — has become a sanctuary for underground electronic music fans. The upcoming Fall edition is pumped with a wide array of unadulterated talent, where headliners including RÜFÜS DU SOL, Richie Hawtin, and Hot Since 82 are joined by up-and-coming acts like Breakbot, Solardo, and Hito to make for a weekend of top quality music from all over the underground spectrum. To dig a big deeper into the lineup, we’ve tapped some of our favorite acts on the bill for an interview series before the festival.
Lee K has become something of a stalwart within the San Diego underground. Cutting her teeth at FNGRS CRSSD, primarily through her residency at the Gaslamp club Bang Bang and through every CRSSD Festival to date, the Socal native was soon noticed by Richie Hawtin and swept off to Ibiza for an international run for his ENTER. series in 2015. She continues to play alongside Hawtin and other accomplished peers to this day, with gigs lined up in Spain, Switzerland, and more throughout the fall season.
It’s artists like Lee who show the art of DJing is still very much relevant in today’s producer-heavy climate. While she might not have a SoundCloud with thousands of followers amassed based off her own compositions, what she does do is expertly weave together all things minimal, dark, and techy into finely-crafted sets that knock out the dance-floor. In doing so, she shows off her immense creativity and lets her taste in music show off her true artistic capabilities.
Read on for a glimpse into her life and success ahead of her 6th performance at the festival.
