EDM producer David Guetta says he is tired of EDM productions

At almost 50 years old, href="http://dancingastronaut.com/tag/david-guetta/">David Guetta has been one of the most well-known names in dance music for many years. Like it or not, Guetta has helped fuel the worldwide dance music scene over the past few decades and make it more accessible to fans of all genres of music.

In a recent href="http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/features/david-guetta-interview-ibiza-residency-2u-justin-bieber-bruno-mars-remix-new-album-a7840421.html">interview with The Independent, Guetta had a few thoughts on the future of music and the industry behind it. He discusses how the underground scene in Ibiza is becoming more popular than the music many would call “commercial” dance music.

“There’s a way bigger awareness of that side of music on the island than there was a few years ago,” he says. “I’m going to be honest, in the two last years that same 128bpm EDM was starting to make me tired. Everybody was playing it. So now I’m happy, I think it’s amazing moment for music because it’s the end of a  class="vm-hook-outer vm-hook-default vm-hook-inview vm-hook-inview"> class="vm-hook">cycle, but that also means the beginning of another one. And I think we can all be experimental, people want new sounds and they’re ready for new ones.”

These are interesting sentiments, coming from a producer who has been releasing what many would call “commercial” dance music over the past few years, like his song “ href="http://dancingastronaut.com/2017/06/david-guetta-drops-2u-justin-bieber/">2u” with href="http://dancingastronaut.com/tag/justin-bieber/">Justin Bieber. Guetta doesn’t seem to take offense to the criticism of his crossover work, saying he’d rather make music he believes in than follow the rules.

“At the beginning of house music, it was all about being credible. When I started to make music and cross over I started to receive some criticism. So I said, ‘look, I’m not trying to be credible. I’m trying to be in-credible.’ I think anybody that is going to do something a bit out of the box is always going to be criticized, but at the end of the day that’s the only thing that matters. You can be a good little boy who follows the rules, but you’re never going to do anything interesting with your life. I make the music that I believe in, the music that I love, that I wanna share with people. And I’m not forcing anyone to listen to it.”
