With summer on the way, looks like another popular recording artist is ready to take on Kendrick Lamar and Big Sean for today’s Best Rapper Crown as Interscope platinum-selling recording artist MGK throws his name in the mentions with a furious new freestyle that sends shots at not only Kendrick Lamar throne, but also at Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, and arguably the Greatest Rapper of All-Time, Eminem.
Currently promoting his new album, ‘Bloom’, during his Los Angeles press run, MGK stopped by the popular L.A. Leakers broadcast and during the interview unleashed a “Super Ugly” freestyle. Over the Drake’s “Free Smoke” instrumental, MGK subliminally addresses Travis Scott and his live shows, Lil Uzi Vert’s Rock Star claim, Kendrick Lamar “Humble” claiming the crown in Hip-Hop, Big Sean also claiming to be the Best Rapper Alive, and Eminem banning him from media giant, Shade 45.
About Eminem, MGK recalls Marshall Mathers as his favorite rapper alive, saying:
“I’m my favorite rapper alive / Since my favorite rapper banned me from Shade45 / I wonder what now / It’s the gunner / Click clack,”
Throughout the freestyle, the Cleveland-native reveals his Top 10 is solely him, takes property of being the first artist to have most pits, play guitar during live stages, and being responsible for changing Hip-Hop since his arrival. MGK brings out the exclusive Cleveland Cavilers Championship ring to show he isn’t playing around and introduced the new moniker of “Young Gunner”.
Clearly this freestyle was about demanding respect and his spot among the conversation of the elite. Great promotion for his brand new album, ‘Bloom,’ which is available now on streaming services via Interscope/Est.19xx/Bad Boy. Includes the hit single, “Bad Things”.
