BUKU Music + Art Project is a quirky boutique event that delivers a big festival punch without compromising its underground house-party vibe. Tucked right in the heart of New Orleans, BUKU’s intimate post-industrial setting fits perfectly with the festival’s fusion of relevant EDM, hip-hop and indie rock.
We were extremely lucky to experience this unique festival earlier. During the 2-day festival we got to experience such diversity; from the people, to the artists of all kinds, and much more. The whole festival was an incredible experience and we’ll share with you why BUKU is the Festival of the Future!
From the diversity of the music and the people, to the amazing location, to the art and “Kulture,” and then to these phenomenal stages, BUKU truly knows how to throw an epic festival!
So let’s talk about diversity: deadmau5, Travis Scott, Zeds Dead, Jauz, Lil Dicky, Ghastly B2B Herobust, Slushii, Lido, GRiZmatik, Run The Jewels, Cashmere Cat, M.A.N.D.Y., K?d, josh pan and so much more put together an insane and diverse musical experience. One of the highlights was a musical replacement: NOLA native Juvenile got the call moments before Young Thug was to take the stage as he wasn’t able to perform. So Juve replaced him in epic fashion!
Being down in NOLA, you get to experience so much diversity: from the music at the festival (obviously,) to the attendees as well as the locals that make NOLA so an amazing place to have a festival. With people from so many countries coming to experience BUKU, one thing was very clear: no matter what, everyone there was there to have fun, to not judge others, and to experience something new and exciting.
Everywhere you went during the festival, there was something to catch your eye. BUKU is much more than just a music festival. With installations, interactive elements, and 100s of non-traditional performances, BUKU is the perfect opportunity to forget your worries, disconnect from your daily life, and immerse yourself in another world.
From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, there was an overwhelming amount of peace, love, unity, and respect coming from every attendee and staff member. The happiest and most welcoming of vibes were radiating throughout the entire festival. So with that said, see you all next year for BUKU 2018!
